Women and Leadership in Humanitarian Action Dialogue Series

Dialogue 1: Solutions for Supporting Local Women Responders in Humanitarian Action

IFRC, UN Women and UN OCHA are organizing a series of dialogues to amplify institutional commitments to women’s leadership and gender-transformative localization, building on ongoing initiatives under the Grand Bargain, the World Humanitarian Summit and beyond. The series will create and maintain momentum
for advancing the agenda of women’s empowerment and leadership in the humanitarian sector, including through
dialogue with global, regional, and local women’s organizations and networks. The dialogues will serve as a venue for
participants to exchange information on initiatives and approaches that advance diversity and inclusion; tackle the complex issues faced by women and break systemic barriers to women’s leadership in the humanitarian sector; and promote the visibility of women leaders’ contributions in humanitarian and protracted crisis contexts.

Please join this dialogue on how to drive a gender-transformative localization agenda and promote diverse, meaningful and inclusive women’s leadership at the community, local, and national levels of humanitarian action. Engage in discussion with local women humanitarian leaders to explore what actions are required from humanitarian actors to further increase the visibility, meaningful engagement, quality financing and partnerships with local women’s organizations.
